 Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

 Instructions:

Prepare the Blackberries

  • Rinse the blackberries well.
  • Mash them with a fork or potato masher until chunky or smooth (your choice!).

Cook the Jam

  • In a large saucepan, add blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  • Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Test the Jam

  • Place a spoonful on a chilled plate.
  • If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready! If not, simmer a bit longer.

Sterilize the Jars

  • While jam cooks, boil jars and lids for 10 minutes.
  • Place on a clean towel to dry.

Fill the Jars

  • Carefully ladle hot jam into jars, leaving 1/4 inch of space.
  • Wipe rims clean, seal with lids, and screw bands fingertip-tight.

Process the Jars

  • Place jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  • Remove and cool on a towel.
  • Check seals — lids shouldn’t pop back when pressed.

Store & Enjoy

  • Keep sealed jars in a cool, dark place.
  • Refrigerate and use unsealed jars within a few weeks.

This jam makes the perfect homemade gift — or just a treat for yourself! Would you spread it on toast, biscuits, or pancakes first?
